Description
Atorvastatin Tablets
Atorvastatin reduces the levels of bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, LDL) and triglycerides, thus preventing future heart attack and stroke. When cholesterol in the blood is not balanced (unhealthy), it may result in high cholesterol, also known as hyperlipidemia or dyslipidemia. High blood cholesterol narrows your arteries and closes them up, hence resulting in cardiac conditions such as heart attacks and strokes.
Atorvastatin has rosuvastatin in it, and it works to prevent liver enzymes from functioning as well, leading the liver to produce less cholesterol. Therefore, Atorvastatin decreases the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when dietary changes (such as a low-fat diet) alone have not worked. It also enhances the body’s capability of eliminating bad cholesterol from your blood.
Benefits:
- Atorvastatin with dietary interventions assists in the treatment of high cholesterol, particularly in heart patients, when primary dietary interventions are unable to reduce cholesterol.
- It reduces the bad cholesterol (LDL) and raises the amount of good cholesterol (HDL) in dyslipidaemia or hyperlipidemia.
- Atorvastatin is found to be more effective than other statins.
- Atorvastatin also decreases the level of fat or cholesterol buildup (plaque) in the arteries of the heart and reduces the likelihood of suffering a heart attack or stroke in the future.
- Atorvastatin may also be prescribed for individuals with a history of elevated cholesterol in coronary heart disease or chronic health conditions of type 1, type 2 diabetes, or rheumatoid arthritis.
Uses:
- Atorvastatin is prescribed for treating hyperlipidemia, a condition where elevated levels of lipids (fats) are present in the blood, and it helps in keeping the levels of lipids within a normal range.
- Atorvastatin is mainly employed to reduce the elevated cholesterol levels in patients, thus lowering the chances of heart disease.
- In improving the levels of cholesterol, Atorvastatin is useful in preventing the chances of heart attacks and strokes in people suffering from heart diseases or risk factors.
- Atorvastatin helps to slow the development of atherosclerosis, or a condition in which arteries narrow or get blocked, thus enhancing overall vascular well-being.
