Dapagliflozin + Metformin Tablets
Metformin+ Dapagliflozin falls under the category of ‘antidiabetic drugs’, which are mainly prescribed for type 2 diabetes mellitus with diet control and exercise. Metformin+ Dapagliflozin also reduces heart failure risk among type 2 diabetic patients having heart ailments. Diabetes mellitus is a disease of metabolism causing elevated blood glucose levels. It happens when the insulin (a hormone secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas) is resistant to cleaving the glucose to generate energy (insulin resistance) or the pancreas (an organ located behind the stomach) releases minimal or no insulin at all. Metformin+ Dapagliflozin is not recommended for the treatment of type 1 diabetes.
Metformin+ Dapagliflozin consists of two antidiabetic drugs, i.e., Metformin and Dapagliflozin. Metformin is a biguanide class drug and controls blood sugar levels, especially in obese individuals. It has a nonpancreatic action to lower blood glucose levels without raising insulin secretion. Dapagliflozin is a gliflozin class drug. It lowers blood sugar levels by removing excess sugars from the body via urine.
Metformin+ Dapagliflozin is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and consists of Metformin and Dapagliflozin. Metformin is a biguanide and controls blood glucose levels, especially in obese individuals. It has a nonpancreatic action to decrease blood glucose levels without enhancing insulin secretion. It is also referred to as an insulin sensitizer as it makes the effects of insulin stronger. Metformin is a special antidiabetic medication as it does not lead to hypoglycemia (decreased blood sugar levels). Dapagliflozin is a gliflozin drug. It decreases blood sugar levels by removing extra sugars from the body in the form of urine. Metformin+ Dapagliflozin lowers the chances of heart failure among type 2 diabetes patients with heart disease. Metformin+ Dapagliflozin can be recommended with or without other drugs in addition to diet and exercise to manage blood sugar.
Dapagliflozin + Metformin is a drug combination of two antidiabetic drugs: Dapagliflozin and Metformin. Dapagliflozin functions by eliminating excess sugar (glucose) from your body via urine. Metformin functions by reducing sugar production in the liver, slowing down glucose absorption from intestines and making the body more sensitive to insulin. Combined, they help control blood sugar better.
Metformin+ Dapagliflozin is an ‘antidiabetic drug’, which is mainly prescribed to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus along with a diet and regular exercise. Metformin+ Dapagliflozin also reduces the risk of heart failure in type 2 diabetic patients with cardiovascular diseases.
Metformin+ Dapagliflozin can cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and makes you hungry, dizzy, irritable, confused, anxious, or shaky. Therefore, Metformin+ Dapagliflozin is recommended to be taken with a meal. In order to treat hypoglycemia instantly, it is recommended to consume or drink quickly absorbed sugar-containing foods such as fruit juices, hard candy, raisins, or non-diet soda.
Your doctor can prescribe Metformin+ Dapagliflozin along with other medicines to regulate your blood sugar. However, it is recommended to be on a suitable diet and also exercise to gain regulated blood sugar when taking Metformin+ Dapagliflozin alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
